React Video Editor has just hit Version 6 (Beta), and this update is big. Before diving into all the new features, I want to emphasize that this is a beta release. With so many changes and improvements, I need the community’s help to test and find any issues before the full launch. So, if you’re using it, please be brutal—rip it apart and send us your feedback. We have thick skin.
What's New in Version 6?
1. Transitions & Effects
- You can now add effects and transitions to overlays, including text, images, and videos.
- Choose from animations like slide-in, fade-out, and more.
- All powered by extendable animation templates.

- Improved timeline scrolling.
- More accurate time measurements.

Final Thoughts
Looking back at Version 1, it was basic, unpolished, and had a long way to go. But if you were one of the early users, thank you—your feedback helped shape React Video Editor into what it is today. Now, with Version 6, I truly believe that if you're building a video editor, React Video Editor is all you need to get started. But we’re not stopping here – there’s still plenty more to come.
I’m super excited to release Version 6 of React Video Editor! But this is just the beginning – we have a lot more planned, and we truly rely on the community's feedback to shape the future of the editor.
